For this project, I was part of a group that was requested to redesign and mockup the buttons on the Minnesota GreenStep Cities website. My partner and I came up with a redesign of the buttons making them rounded with a bolded font. We decided to model these buttons on the home page and model the redesigned map call-out feature. The target audience for this project is the users of the GreenStep website including the cities that enter statistics and those who want to learn about GreenStep itself. This redesign helps the audience by having a clear and concise design that helps simplify the abundance of information that GreenStep provides. As a team, we met GreenSteps needs of making a clean design that is cohesive with the rest of GreenStep’s website.

This project required an illustrated poster that had a call to action. I chose to display the message of “Save Our Oceans” because I think it is very important relating to our environment. This poster raises awareness about the issue of plastic pollution in our oceans. I illustrated this design, used CMYK coloring, and ensured the poster would print accurately for display. This poster was meant to send a message when quickly viewing it as it was hung in a walkway to those who may be unaware of plastic pollution in our oceans. I worked hard to create a clear message on this poster with a lasting message that was simple and easy to understand the meaning.

For this project, I was tasked with doing a deep dive analysis of a brand of choice and creating my own advertisement for the brand. I chose the Amika hair care brand, I analyzed their design and marketing strategies such as color, signifiers, and attitude of looking. I was able to create my own advertisement using their brand style. Amika’s brand is very colorful and patterned. With that said, for this design, I wanted to carry the same theme by having colorful graphics to match their bottles and the brand as a whole. I modeled the bottles that I own on a clean but interesting background to catch the viewer’s attention. I then edited the photo to brighten the color and added graphics that fit the brand’s character. I created the advertisement to be balanced with one graphic on each side. The target audience for this project was my classmates who would be viewing my design and my analysis of the Amika brand.

Currently, I am employed at A. Johnson and Sons florists where I am tasked with helping walk-in customers create custom arrangements, creating arrangements for orders, and arrangements for our customer cooler. In my portfolio, you can see a few examples of floral design work I have created for sale. When creating each of these I keep in mind floral design principles such as the statement flower if there is one, the texture of the arrangement, and the height of the arrangement. All of these principles come together to create a completed floral arrangement that is professional and unique. My specific goal is to create colorful and whimsical arrangements that stand out against other pieces. I do this by creating an interesting texture and aesthetic color palette. Although these arrangements are created to be sold to our consumer audience some of these pieces have also been featured as promotion posts on the company’s Instagram to gain popularity and community outreach.
